Program Overview

The Fitness Loon Senior Wellness Initiative is a community-supported program designed to help older adults in the Loganville area stay active, independent, and mentally sharp through safe, instructor-led fitness classes.

The initiative is built around Fitness Loon’s participation in the SilverSneakers network, which allows eligible seniors to attend specialized group fitness classes at the studio.

While the SilverSneakers program provides a small reimbursement for each visit, the payments do not fully cover the cost of operating the classes. The Senior Wellness Initiative allows local businesses and community partners to help sustain and strengthen this program so seniors can continue benefiting from it.

Program Impact

Active Participants: 18–25 seniors
Average Attendance: ~10 participants per class
Classes Offered: 4 classes per week
Estimated Monthly Visits: 150–180
Estimated Annual Visits: 1,800–2,200

These classes provide over 1,800–2,200 senior wellness visits each year for older adults in the Loganville community. These visits help participants maintain strength, mobility, balance, and cardiovascular health while supporting mental well-being and long-term independence.

Class Schedule

SilverSneakers classes are held during weekday mornings at Fitness Loon and include a mix of strength, mobility, and low-impact cardio formats.

SilverSneakers Classic (45 minutes)

Focuses on strengthening muscles and increasing range of motion for daily life activities. Participants use hand-held weights, elastic tubing, and a SilverSneakers ball. Chairs are used for seated exercises or standing support.

SilverSneakers Circuit (45 minutes)

A low-impact class blending cardio and strength training using weights, tubing, and a soft ball while incorporating a chair for support. Improves cardiovascular health, strength, and balance.

Zumba Gold (30 minutes)

An easy-to-follow dance fitness class focused on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Designed specifically for active older adults.

These formats emphasize mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and cardiovascular health, all of which are critical for maintaining independence later in life.
